Roundhouse Park is a 6.9 hectare park in downtown Toronto on the site of the former Railway Lands .

In Roundhouse Park are the John Street Roundhouse , a value obtained roundhouse , where the Toronto Railway Museum called Railway Museum is housed, and Steam Whistle Brewing and Leon's Furniture . Several locomotives are on display in the park, there is a miniature park railway and the Don Station of the Canadian Pacific Railway, which has been rebuilt there . The park is enclosed by Bremner Boulevard, Lower Simcoe Street, Lake Shore Boulevard West ( Gardiner Expressway ) and Rees Street.

Roundhouse

The roundhouse with 32 stalls and a 36.5 m (120 foot ) diameter turntable was built in 1929-31 by the Canadian Bridge Company for the Anglin-Norcross. It was used as a depot until 1986 . The Canadian Pacific Railway Company donated the building to the city of Toronto. It was listed as a historic monument in 1990 and renovated in the 1990s, with the site east of the building being converted into an urban park in 1997.

The Toronto Railway Historical Association (TRHA) was founded in 2001 and opened the Toronto Railway Museum on May 28, 2010. It is housed in part of the roundhouse and includes an exhibition of locomotives and cars, a restaurant, a full-size diesel locomotive simulator, and an outdoor area the Don Station , which was rebuilt there , the Signal Cabin D signal box with a tool shed, as well as a marshals' booth called Watchman's shanty , a water tower and a cooling tower.

The station Don Station was founded in 1896 by the Canadian Pacific Railway at the west bank of the Don River built running along Queen Street East. In 1969 it was dismantled and rebuilt in Todmorden Mills , where it was not open to the public for many years when it was mothballed. It was moved to Roundhouse Park in 2008. Today tickets for the park railway can be bought there.
