history

The company is family-run in the second generation. Roy Robson was founded in 1922 as Bruno Kirches clothing factories in Berlin and has been based in Lüneburg since 1944. The current name of the company was chosen in 1984 after a well-known brand of the company. The beginning of the production was determined by the manufacture of men's clothing ( suits , jackets and trousers), today the company is a full-range supplier with the additional product groups shirts , ties , knitwear, jerseys, coats, outdoor jackets. Belts , socks , glasses (since 2011) and leather jackets are still sold as licensed products . The turnover in 2004 was 46 million euros and in 2006 51 million euros. In Germany, the company operated four mono-label stores in 2008 , two in Munich and one each in Hanover and Hamburg, as well as 127 shop-in-shops . The manufacturer's fashion was available in 45 shop-in-shops abroad in 2006. In 2008, 40 of its own stores were operated in Russia. In 2009 around 1,000 employees are said to have worked for Roy Robson, 200 of them in Hamburg.

Since 2008, Roy Robson has been running his own production facility for suits and jackets in Izmir , Turkey , with around 350 employees. The products are also manufactured in Italy, Portugal and Bulgaria.

Sports sponsorship

Roy Robson is the official business outfitter of Werder Bremen , VfL Wolfsburg and FC St. Pauli . In the 1990s, Roy Robson was also the main sponsor of Hansa Rostock , before the company reduced its commitment in 1999 and only acted as a co-sponsor.
