Royal Albert (DLR)

Royal Albert Station

Royal Albert is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in the London Borough of Newham . It is located in Travel Zone 3 on Royal Albert Way in the Custom House district. The name comes from the Royal Albert Dock immediately to the south .

The station was opened on March 28, 1994, along with the branch line towards Beckton . During the heyday of Docklands , the Connaught Road station was located 150 meters further east.It was opened on August 3, 1880 by the Eastern Counties and Thames Junction Railway and had to be closed on September 8, 1940 due to irreparable aerial bomb damage.
