The Royal Montserrat Defense Force ( German Royal Defense Forces of Montserrat ) is a military volunteer association of the British overseas territory of Montserrat . The unit was set up in 1899 and is mainly entrusted with ceremonial tasks today. The approximately 20 soldiers are unpaid volunteers and work part-time.
