Ružín is the name of a reservoir or a hydropower system (Ružín I. and Ružín II.) In eastern Slovakia , which is located on the Hornád River . It is located southeast of the municipality of Margecany in the Čierna hora Mountains , a part of the Slovak Ore Mountains, and is 11 kilometers long.
The reservoir was built between 1963 and 1970 and is mainly used to supply water to the city of Košice and the surrounding industry, but also for power generation, flood protection and recreation. The reservoir got its name from the flooded village of Ružín ; in addition, the municipalities of Rolova Huta and Košická Huta were given up.
