Ruby Lin
Ruby Lin ( Chinese 林心如 , Pinyin Lín Xīnrú ; born January 27, 1976 in Taipei ) is a Taiwanese actress and pop singer .
Lin made her debut in a TV commercial in Taiwan. She had her breakthrough with the lead role in Princess Pearl and its successor Princess Pearl 2 . In 1999 she began her career as a singer with the first EP .
Life
Lin grew up in Taipei . Her father was a businessman and her mother is a housewife. She is the oldest daughter and has two younger brothers. After her parents divorced when she was seven, she lived with her mother. Her mother has brought her to visit relatives in Japan every year since she was a child . Lin graduated from Ri Xin Primary School and Zhong Dian High School. She originally planned to go to the UK and study there after graduating from high school. However, Ruby Lin's acting career began at the age of 17 as a part-time advertising model. Her first TV commercial was for tea.
Lin's parents didn't like their daughter's idea of working in the entertainment industry. Still, Ruby Lin decided to pursue an acting career. After appearing in advertising for many products, her parents agreed to see her work for an entertainment management company. After graduating from high school, Lin signed a contract with Jessie and Jones Entertainment Ltd.
