The Ruchill Hospital is a former hospital for infectious diseases in the Scottish city of Glasgow . It was a landmark in the north of Glasgow.

In the 1890s, it was decided to set up a second isolation hospital for infectious diseases in Glasgow. The Glasgow city architect Alexander Beith McDonald was in charge of the planning of the facility from 1892 onwards. A mound was laboriously raised to build the hospital. The foundation stone was laid on August 29, 1895. The construction work dragged on until 1900. The facility opened on June 13 of the same year. The total cost was around £ 250,000.

In 1910 more units were added, including a tuberculosis ward . In 1948 the hospital became part of the National Health Service . Around 1969 various buildings were demolished to make way for a new laundry. The Ruchill Hospital was closed in 1998. In the following year, an investor bought the site for development, but this was not implemented. Several of the buildings were already classified as category B or C monuments at that time; the water tower even as a category A building. Over the years, the empty buildings fell into disrepair and fell victim to vandalism. In the end, its substance was so ruinous that many of the buildings were demolished despite being listed.
