Rudolf Bäumer (born November 17, 1912 in Heimsen ; † April 10, 1993 in Minden ) was a German Protestant theologian and chairman of the confessional movement No other gospel .

Life

He was a son of the pastor Friedrich Wilhelm Heinrich Bäumer (1871-1944) and cousin of the theologian Martin Niemöller . He grew up in Ibbenbüren and graduated from high school Dionysianum in Rheine . In 1947 he became pastor in Ibbenbüren, in 1958 head of the Evangelical Girls' Organization in Westphalia , based in Dortmund, and from 1963 to 1979 pastor in Espelkamp . There he was also head of the "Ludwig-Steil-Hof" for resettlers and for many years head of the Evangelical Church Blue Cross work for those at risk of addiction.

In the fifties and sixties he became increasingly involved in the dispute over Rudolf Bultmann's demand for a demythologization of the New Testament. At the center of this demand from Bultmann were the question of the resurrection of Jesus and Christology (interpretation of the person of Jesus). In 1966 Bäumer co-founded the confessional movement No other gospel, alongside Peter Beyerhaus , Paul Deitenbeck , Gerhard Bergmann , Walter Künneth and Wilhelm Busch . In 1967 he wrote the “Düsseldorf Declaration” on Christology together with Künneth and also participated in the 1974 Berlin Declaration of Ecumenism. Together with Prof. Dr. On March 31, 1969, Walter Künneth founded the “Theological Convention of the Conference of Confessing Communities in the Protestant Churches in Germany”, which deals critically with contemporary ideologies. In 1973 Bäumer was a co-founder and then first chairman of the parish council under the word .
