Rudolf von Homburg

Rudolf von Homburg (first mentioned 1097; † November 9/10, 1122 ) was bishop in Basel .

Rudolf came from the family of the Counts von Thierstein . From 1097 he worked as provost of the Basel cathedral chapter. In 1107 he became Bishop of Basel. From 1114 he was also provost at Zurich's Grossmünster . He successfully endeavored to strengthen the rights of the bishops over the St. Blasien monastery in the Black Forest and took an active part in the construction of the St. Leonhard church in Basel, which he consecrated in 1118.
