Rudolph Marshal

Rudolph Marschall (* around 1420; † between 1501 and 1505) was a German knight from the noble family of those von Marschall . He owned the manors Herrengosserstedt , Burgholzhausen and Tromsdorf . As a colonel he was in the service of Duke Wilhelm III. of Saxony . With this he moved to Jerusalem to the Holy Sepulcher in 1446 and served him until death. He was married to a von Miltitz .

He had already died in 1505 and his sons Heinrich, Rudolf, Christofel, Wolf (gang) and Hans Marschall were enfeoffed with the possessions left by Duke Georg of Saxony.

His great-grandson was the supervisor Ludwig Ernst Marschall

According to tradition, Rudolph Marschall was the progenitor of the two lines Burgholzhausen (raised to the count's status) and Altengottern .
