Lists on the subject |
The Ruger MK II is a very common sport pistol in the USA.
Emergence
The original design of the Ruger MK II was created in 1949 to compete with small-caliber sport pistols from the manufacturers High Standard ( Hi-Standard GB Auto ) and Colt ( Colt Woodsman ).
technology
In contrast to those models, Ruger did not use a conventional slide , but a lock cylinder within a round lock housing. Instead, there is a fluted loading knob at the end of the pistol. Despite this unconventional design at the time, the pistol (at that time with the original model name Standard) established itself on the market. The Ruger is a self-loading pistol with a simple ground lock . The gas pressure in the barrel opens the unlocked lock , a strong spring is enough to close it again.
A total of around 3 million copies of the Standard, MK I and MK II pistols were produced.
