The Ruhnama Monument is a mechanical statue of the Book of Ruhnama in Ashgabat , the capital of Turkmenistan .

The Ruhnama Monument in a central square in Ashgabat is nine meters high and made of marble , with the golden likeness of former President Saparmyrat Nyýazow . It is surrounded by fountains and is illuminated at night. A mechanism ensures that the book cover opens and closes. Inside the book are Nyýazow's phrases and instructions.

During his reign, the Ruhnama written by Nyýazows was compulsory reading and the basis for education, religion and was even queried during the driving test. With the death of the president in 2006, the importance of the Ruhnama declined. The mechanics were no longer serviced and the book cover has not opened since then.
