Ruhrstadtstudio

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ruhrstadtstudio Witten was a radio workshop recognized since 1992, in which contributions for the community radio on Radio Ennepe Ruhr were produced. Thus, citizens of the region ( Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis ) were given the opportunity to publish relevant topics in their opinion and to present them to the public. The studio was non-partisan, impartial, not confessional. Each year, up to 100 programs, mostly from the areas of social affairs, culture and urban events, are produced in the studio by citizens of the district.

history

The Evangelical Hospital Witten, seat of the Ruhrstadtstudios

The history of the Ruhrstadtstudios begins in 1976. That year, Ev. Hospital in Witten set up a recording studio . First to consignments of been in this studio hospital Funke in the Protestant Hospital produced Witten and broadcast live or the facilities and buildings of the adjoining Diakoniewerk in the hospital room. Broadcast date of the first broadcast: November 6, 1976. Since 1992, the studio has also produced broadcasts for the citizens' radio of Radio Ennepe Ruhr, the local radio broadcaster of the Ennepe-Ruhr district based in Hagen . The hospital radio stopped its live production for Diakonie in 1999; until 2004 the studio was simply called "Krankenhausfunk", but the name was changed to "Ruhrstadtstudio" in 2004 to make it clear that it is a radio workshop that is open to all citizens of the district and their topics. In the media landscape of the city of Witten, the Ruhrstadtstudio was a special feature, as it was the only independent media platform for citizen issues, because there is no open channel or similar facilities in the city in which live radio could be produced, as is the case in many regions of Germany is quite possible.

In 2017, Studio Witten was set up in a retirement home as the successor .

Radio workshop

In order to be allowed to produce citizen radio broadcasts, an examination by the State Agency for Media of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia is required . In order to be allowed to call oneself a “radio workshop”, certain criteria have to be fulfilled: The appropriate technology has to be available, the employees have to undergo further training at regular intervals. A recording studio is only given the title “radio workshop” if these criteria are met. The Ruhrstadtstudio is one of two such workshops in the Ennepe-Ruhr district. The second workshop is located in the city of Gevelsberg . Due to the changes in the state media law in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2007, citizens' radio may only produce those who have received such confirmation as part of a certification course. In August 2008, three volunteer employees of the Ruhrstadtstudio completed this certification course. Thus the Witten studio was the only one in the Ennepe-Ruhr district in which community radio was allowed to be produced.
