Rukmini

Rukmini ( Sanskrit रुक्मिणी Rukmiṇī ) is a female given name of Indian origin and means "the golden one". Rukmini is one of the nicknames of the goddess Lakshmi .

In Indian mythology, the Bhagavatapurana and the Mahabharata , Rukmini is the daughter of Bhishmaka and the wife of Krishna . He desires the beautiful Rukmini to be a wife and she thinks of no one other than him. But it is promised to someone else, Krishna's cousin Shishupala . At Rukmini's request, Krishna kidnaps the girl shortly before the unwanted wedding and defeats her brother Rukmi in a fight. Eventually he marries her and she gives birth to 10 sons. Krishna marries 16007 other women, but she remains his main wife .
