The Romanian National Bank ( Romanian : Banca Națională a României ) is the central bank of Romania . The head office of the bank is in Bucharest . It is a member of the European System of Central Banks .
history
The start-up capital of the Romanian National Bank was 30 million lei , of which 10 million was provided from state funds.

The management of the Bank of Romania is regulated in an autonomy law. it consists of

- a deputy governor
- a ruling governor and
- the Central Bank Commission.
The governor is appointed by the Romanian Parliament. The current governor is Mugur Isărescu .

The central bank has a flexible exchange rate policy and focuses on fighting inflation .
The tasks of the central bank include the implementation of monetary policy decisions of the Governing Council, the processing of payment transactions , the administration of the national foreign exchange reserves and the preparation of the national balance of payments (collection of the necessary statistical data).
