The Rumbold Point is a headland at the southeast end of South Georgia . It marks the entrance to Doubtful Bay to the east .
The headland's name appears for the first time on a map that was created during the survey of the area by scientists from the British Discovery Investigations in 1930. According to the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee of 1955, the namesake is W. C. Rumbolds, who was working as a customs officer in South Georgia at the time of the designation .
