Rumpler B types

The Rumpler B-types by the designer Edmund Rumpler were two-seat reconnaissance aircraft used by the German air force during the First World War .

development

In 1914 Rumpler Flugzeugwerke mainly produced the replica of the Etrich Taube . In addition, however, a double-decker with a 100 hp in- line engine was also developed and manufactured as Rumpler B in the 4A13 with a Mercedes and 4A14 with a Benz engine.

Its further development Rumpler BI (factory designation 4A) had slightly shorter wings and a shorter fuselage. A total of 198 pieces were manufactured by BI together with Pfalz-Flugzeugwerke as licensee .

commitment

The BI was used as a reconnaissance aircraft on the Eastern and Western Fronts.
