Fürth Broadcasting Museum
The radio museum of the city of Fürth was founded in October 1993. For many years it was located in an outbuilding of the Burgfarrnbacher Schloss . Since the end of 2001 it has been located in a central and historically appropriate location in Fürth: on the site of the former headquarters (management building) of the Grundig electronics group .
The complete development of radio from its beginnings to the current state is exhibited here. Many old radios , but also tape recorders and televisions, make the exhibition seem alive. The following can also be viewed: measuring devices ( oscilloscopes ), studio technology ( sound technology ), as well as transmission technology ( transmission system - a 100 kW medium wave transmitter). The epochs of radio technology are shown on different floors. Special exhibitions expand the rich offer on special topics.
A museum café is located on the 2nd floor (entrance); the premises can also be rented for private events. The amateur radio station DL0RFM was located on the 4th floor of the museum until 2014.
In 1951/1952 the first television broadcasts took place from the tower on top of the building in southern Germany after the end of World War II.
