Round motor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Model railroaders refer to the classic three-pole DC motor with disk collector and spur gear from the Fleischmann company as a round motor .

This motor was used in a large part of the newly designed locomotive models until the mid-1990s, then Fleischmann also relied on mid-mounted motors with flywheels for new developments , where the power is transmitted via cardan shafts and worm drives.

However, the term "round motor" is also used for other motor types, for example those used by the Märklin and HAG companies .

The term "round engine" is also common with vintage motorcycles from Ducati , as the first and most sought-after version of the V2-cylinder engines of the Ducati 750 Supersport and to distinguish it from the 750 and 900 successor types with an "angular" engine housing, see the round engine in the Image description .
