The rune stone now stands between the new church and the ruins of the church in Østermarie on the Danish island of Bornholm in the Baltic Sea . The granite stone is about 1.51 m high, 18 to 60 cm wide and 30 cm thick. Its state of preservation is good.

The decorated rune stone belongs to the group of late Bornholm stones from the transition period between the Viking Age (800-1050 AD) and the older Middle Ages (1075-1125 AD). The decoration consists of a triangular figure attached to an arrow remind. It's in the lower left corner and points to the beginning of the inscription.

The text on the side of the stone reads in Norsk: "Øde og Svein og Ødgeir traveled sten etter Gunnulv, deres gode bror, og etter Gunhild, (deres) mor." Translated: "Auður, Sveinn and Auðgeirr erected this stone in memory of Gunnulv, her good brother, and Gunhild, (her) mother ”.

The rune height of 4.5 to 6.5 cm is low. Dots and colons were used as word separators. The inscription is atypical for the Bornholm runic inscriptions, as the soul formula is missing. The contoured inscription is embedded in a band with an outer and an inner frame, the frame band turns spirally towards the center. The inscription begins at the bottom left of the triangular figure.
