The runestone from Västra Ledinge ( U 518 ) in Norrtälje in Uppland in Sweden reports u. a. of the death of a Freygeirr. Whether it is the Viking chief Freygeirr (Freyr's Speer), the leader of a Leidang , who is mentioned on six Baltic Sea rune stones (e.g. DR 216, GS 13 and U 698) and who died around 1050 AD, stays open. The stone, carved in the RAK rune stone style, has ribbon with smooth ends and is one of the Greek rune stones (Greklandsstenarna).

The inscription on the rune stone reads: Tórgarð and Sven, put this stone in memory of Ormer, Ormulv and Freygeirr (or Fröger) who found his end in the Sound of Sela ( Selaön island) , the others in Greece. May God help their spirits and souls.
