Rupert Bayless Vance

Rupert Bayless Vance (born March 15, 1899 in Plumerville , Arkansas , † August 25, 1975 ) was an American sociologist and 34th President of the American Sociological Association .

Vance studied to master -Examen economics at Vanderbilt University , in 1926 he moved to the sociological faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill , where he received his doctorate and taught as a professor until 1966th Vance played a leading role in establishing southern sociology, aiming to connect the southern states to economic, political and social progress.

In 1944 he served as president of the American Sociological Association.
