Russell Effaney Kun is a nauruischer politician and former weightlifter . He is the nephew of Ruben Kun .

In the last parliamentary elections on May 3, 2003, he was elected to the Nauruan parliament for the constituency of Ubenide . Kun was Justice Minister under Ludwig Scotty in his first term and returned to this office under René Harris in February 2004. Even after Scotty took over the presidency, Kun remained minister of justice for the time being and was also speaker of parliament.

Scotty suspended him from that position in October 2004. Kun feared that this suspension and the dissolution of parliament would lead to political anarchy, with Scotty as the only ruler. In the new elections on October 23, 2004, Kun lost his seat in parliament. In November 2004 he subsequently demanded his fee by legal means, which he was still entitled to as parliamentary speaker. However, state employees have been paid only partially or not at all for years.

In 2006 the parliament published a report on irregularities in the sale of passports between 1997 and 2000, in which Kun, then Minister of Justice, is alleged to have unlawfully enriched himself. Kun now lives in the Marshall Islands , where he works as a public defender. Kun is a public advocate of the Pacific Solution .
