Russian Bloc ( Russian Русский блок / Russki Blok ) was a political party in Ukraine . The party, which was founded in 2002, represented strictly pro- Russian and partly Pan-Slavist positions and sought long-term unification of Ukraine with Russia. In addition, Ukrainian nationalism was rejected and a stronger position for the Orthodox Church was advocated. The party was banned by a court in Kiev on May 13, 2014 .

The party was founded on June 20, 2002 and emerged from the merger of the Russian-Ukrainian Community and For United Rus parties . The 2002 parliamentary elections achieved an election result of 0.73%. In the 2004 presidential elections they supported Viktor Yanukovych , the candidate of the Party of Regions .
In the parliamentary elections in 2012 , the Russian bloc received 0.31% of the vote, but achieved well above-average results in individual constituencies. In a Sevastopol district, for example, a result of 27.8% was achieved. The party traditionally receives the greatest support in the Crimea .
In early 2013, numerous Ukrainian media speculated about an alleged self-dissolution of the Russian bloc, which was rejected by party chairman Gennady Basov. In November 2013, the Russian Bloc together with the Communist Party of Ukraine organized a demonstration called " Anti-Maidan " against the Euromaidan protests. The party was banned on May 13, 2014.
