Rutger I. (Kleve)

Rutger I. von Kleve is considered the first Count of Kleve , whose county was created by dividing the county of Hamaland around 1020/25.

Rutger I was the brother of Gerhard Flamens , the great-grandfather of the first Count of Geldern . His brother Gerhard was the son-in-law of the last Immedinger Count of Hamaland Dietrich von Hamaland . The length of Rutgers' reign is uncertain and is only vaguely dated to about 1020-1050. His wife was called Wazela von Lotharingen.
