Ruth Halperin-Kaddari

Ruth Halperin-Kaddari (born May 15, 1966 as Ruth Kaddari; Hebrew רות הלפרין-קדרי) is an Israeli legal scholar. She is professor of law at Israel's Bar Ilan University in Ramat Gan and director of the Ruth and Emanuel Rackman Center for the Advancement of Women ( Hebrew מרכז רקמן לקידום מעמד האשה).

Life

Halperin-Kaddari received his PhD from Yale Law School in the United States in 1993 . In 2001 she founded the Ruth and Emanuel Rackman Center for Advancing the Status of Women at Bar Ilan University Law School . Her research interests are family law , feminist legal theory and women's rights in international law.

From 2007–2010, 2011–2014 and 2015–2018, she was a member of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women and was temporarily Vice-President of the Committee.

Her son Bnaya Halperin-Kaddari is a composer and lives in Berlin .
