Ruth Seidl

Ruth Seidl (born July 7, 1953 in Ratheim ) is a German politician from Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen . With one exception for a few months in 2005, it was consistently represented in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from 2000 until 2017.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1973, Seidl studied musicology, ethnology and oriental art history. Between 1973 and 1983 she studied at the universities of Bonn and Freiburg, followed by her doctorate in 1983. She then worked as a freelance journalist until 1990. Seidl is married and has three children.

politics

Seidl became a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in 1991. From 1991 to 1994 she was the district manager of the Greens in the district association and in the Heinsberg district council and then until 2000 she was regional manager of the Greens in North Rhine-Westphalia. In addition, from 1994 to 2000 she was the state manager in the state board of the Greens in North Rhine-Westphalia. Since May 2000 she has been a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament. Ruth Seidl was spokeswoman for her group in the Committee on Innovation, Research and Technology and a member of the Committee on Budgetary Control. She was a deputy member of the Committee for Culture, the Committee for Schools and Further Education, the Interior Committee and the Budget and Finance Committee of the State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. Since 2009 Seidl has been a member of the newly founded Art and Music Academy Advisory Board of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, which advises the state on the further development of the North Rhine-Westphalian art colleges and their artistic courses. In 2013 she was appointed to the advisory board of the Studienwerk by the supervisory board of the Heinrich Böll Foundation. In addition, Ruth Seidl was elected chairwoman of the Frauenkulturbüro NRW eV in June 2014.
