Rutongo is a city on the outskirts of the Rwandan capital Kigali and is about 10 km away from it. Along with Kigali, it is the country's cultural center.
The company Rutongo Mines mines a cassiterite deposit here .
The city is the seat of the Rutongo Major Propaedeutic Seminary.
