Ru Zi

Ru Zi (or Ruzi Ying Chinese  孺子 婴 , Pinyin Rúzǐ Yīng or Liu Ying 劉 婴 , Liú Yīng ; * 5 AD; † 25 AD) was a Chinese emperor, the last emperor of the Western Han dynasty .

Life

As the successor to Han Pingdi, Ru Zi ascended the Chinese imperial throne in 6 AD. He ruled for three years as a child king until 9 AD and was ousted by his successor Wang Mang . With the overthrow of Ru Zi, the western Han dynasty ended and the short-lived Xin dynasty began under Emperor Wang-Mang. Ru Zi was married to Wang Mang's granddaughter.
