Ryds angar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ryds ängar is a nature reserve in the Swedish municipality of Skövde and part of the European Natura 2000 network .

Ryds ängar extends over an area of 172.6 hectares from the outskirts of the city of Skövde about five kilometers along the eastern slope of Table Mountain Billingen to the north. Table Mountain ends here in steep walls and steep slopes shaped by rockfalls. At the foot of the mountain there is a hilly country with pasture areas.

As the soil is very calcareous, the nature reserve is rich in unusual plant species.

There are around 20 prehistoric monuments in the nature reserve, including the Ymsingsborg refuge on the edge of Table Mountain.
