The São Paulo Temple (officially São Paulo Brazil Temple ) is the nineteenth built and seventeenth active temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . It stands in the Brazilian city ​​of São Paulo and was the first temple of this church in South America and the first with only one tower. The spire is 31 meters high.

The São Paulo Temple was announced on March 1, 1975. Construction began twelve months later. Hundreds of local Mormons gathered to prepare the site by clearing undergrowth, scrub, and banana trees. Hundreds again voluntarily produced fifty thousand blocks of quartz stones , marble slabs and white concrete for the facade of the temple. It was consecrated on October 30, 1978 by Spencer W. Kimball . The temple has two ordinance rooms, 4 sealing rooms and a usable area of ​​5,504 m².

On August 21, 2003, a gold-plated statue of the angel Moroni was installed during an extensive renovation and expansion . Gordon B. Hinckley rededicated the temple on February 22, 2004.
