Sampsa

Sampsa (also Sämpsä ) is a vegetation god in Finnish mythology . Its name means sedge .

He lets the rye , but also pine , spruce and juniper grow. When Sampsa goes into hibernation, the rye and trees cannot grow. Only when the sun wakes him up does he let the seeds grow.

Sampsa is depicted as a little man with a sack containing seven seeds.
