The Søllerød Gold Diggers are a Danish American football team based in Vedbæk (approx. 20 km north of Copenhagen ).

Club history

On January 13, 2003, Søllerød Gold Diggers were initially founded as a leisure team. In 2005 they took part for the first time in a competition organized by the Danish American Football Association (DAFF). After two years without a win in the second division, the Gold Diggers signed successful coach Kim Ewé and registered in 2007 for the first Danish division, where they immediately took first place and in the following relegation made their promotion to the national league, the highest Danish league, perfect .

In the years 2008 to 2012, the Gold Diggers reached the Mermaid Bowl (the final of the Danish national championship), with the opponent in each case the Triangle Razorbacks . In the years 2009 and 2010, the Gold Diggers were able to get the national title, both times they did not allow opposing points.

In 2010 the Gold Diggers entered the international stage and took part in the EFAF Cup , where they clearly failed in the opening game against the Swedish representative Carlstad Crusaders . In the EFAF Cup 2011 they survived the preliminary round without losing points and only had to admit defeat to the eventual winner London Blitz in the semifinals . In the third attempt, the Gold Diggers were able to win the title in the 2012 season , where they had to compete against long-term rivals Triangle Razorbacks in a purely Danish final . As EFAF Cup winners, they registered for the European Football League , the highest European competition , in 2013 .
