The southern Greek bee ( Apis mellifera cecropia ) is a subspecies of the honey bee from southern Greece . It is also found in the Aegean Islands .
Morphology and behavior
Apis mellifera cecropia is visually very similar to the Italian bee Apis mellifera ligustica . It is popular with beekeepers because of its extreme gentleness and the low tendency to swarm.
