Südpark (Münster)
The Südpark is an urban green area in the Westphalian city of Münster . It is located between Hammer Straße and the former freight yard, not far from St. Joseph's Church.
The barracks of the Westphalian Train Battalion No. 7 were previously located on the site between 1860 and 1945 . This was followed by a conversion of the facility with subsequent commercial use, which lasted until the 1970s. It was converted into a green area between 1975 and 1979. In the park itself there is a small pond, a playground and numerous lawns. The core of the south park, however, is the large adventure village of the initiative center "ABI", which offers children and young people various activities on the subject of "adventure building initiatives" as leisure activities.
