South Sudanese Chess Federation

The South Sudanese Chess Federation South Sudan Chess Federation is the national umbrella organization for chess players in the African country of South Sudan . The association was founded on March 24, 2014 and has been a member of the world chess association FIDE since 2016 . It is based in Juba . President is Jada Albert Modi.

The first national chess championship was held in November 2014 - under the auspices of the Ugandan Chess Federation - at a time when the South Sudanese Chess Federation was not yet recognized by FIDE. It was won with 10 points from 11 games by Ayuel Deng Cypriano Cyer.

As of August 2019, the association has ten male players with an Elo rating of over 2000. Female players have not yet been listed on FiDE.
