The Sāhat an-Najma , often described under the French name Place de l'Étoile ( Arabic ساحة النجمة, DMG Sāḥat an-Naǧma  'Sternplatz'), is a central square in the Lebanese capital Beirut . Some important buildings with political and religious functions are in its vicinity.

The Sāhat an-Najma is completely closed to vehicle traffic. With the clock tower built on it in 1934, it is one of the most famous motifs in the city. The square is located in the historic center of Beirut about 500 meters from the port . Six streets, all of them pedestrian zones , run towards it in a star shape from the north, west and south. There is only no road to the east. There is the Cathedral of St. George , the seat of the Greek Orthodox Metropolitan . An archaeological museum has opened right under the cathedral . The Italian embassy is located just north of St. George's Cathedral . On the west side of the square is the building of the National Assembly , the Lebanese Parliament. In addition to these public buildings, mainly shops and cafés have settled around the square.
