Səlahəddin Sədrəddun oğlu Xəlilov (born February 22, 1952 in Marneuli , Georgian SSR , Soviet Union ) is an Azerbaijani philosopher .

Life

After graduating with honors from high school in 1968, Xəlilov enrolled in the physics department of Azerbaijani State University (now Baku State University ). After graduating with honors in 1973, he began studying at the graduate school with a major in philosophy. In 1976 he defended his dissertation on the subject of "Systemic-structural analysis of scientific and technological progress". In 1990 Xəlilov defended his dissertation on "Logical and epistemological research of scientific and technological progress". In the same year he was elected to the post of professor and head of the Philosophy Department of the Azerbaijani State Pedagogical University.

Səlahəddin Xəlilov is one of the founders of the country's first private university - the University of Azerbaijan . Since 1994 he has headed the Research Center for East-West. In 1997 he founded the international scientific and socio-political journal Seidenstrasse , of which he was editor-in-chief until 2005. In 2002 he became the chairman of the Presidium of the Association of Philosophy and Social and Political Sciences of Azerbaijan . Since 2003 he has been editor-in-chief of the magazine Fәlsәfә vә Sosial-Siyasi Elmlәr (German: "Philosophy and Sociopolitical Sciences"). Since 2006 he has also been a member of the Presidium of the HAC under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2007, Xəlilov became a corresponding member of the “National Academy of Sciences”. Since 2009, he has also been the chairman of the "Problem Council of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences in Philosophy, Political Science and Sociology".

In 1972 Səlahəddin Xəlilov founded a school for young physicists in the country and took over its management. In 1981 he was elected chairman of the “Council of Young Scientists”. In 1988 he was appointed chairman of the "Association of Young Social Scientists of the Republic". Since 1997 he has been chairman of the Bahmanyar Prize Committee. From 2000 to 2005 he was a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan .
