ST Dupont is a French manufacturer of luxury accessories based in Paris and is best known today for its lighters . The company is listed in the CAC Small index.

history

Simon Tissot-Dupont (born 1847), founder and namesake of the company, acquired a workshop in 1872 that made leather briefcases for diplomats and business people. In 1884 he became a supplier to Les Grands Magasins du Louvre . In 1920 the company employed 250 workers.

During the Second World War , the production of leather items was discontinued due to the poor availability of raw materials and instead the lighters that are known to this day were produced. After the end of the war, the production of the old product line was resumed, but the successful lighters remained an integral part of the range. Since the 1930s aristocrats (including some Indian maharajas ) and statesmen have counted among its customers, in 1947 also the future Queen Elizabeth on the occasion of her wedding.
