The class K vehicles of the South African Railways (SAR) were tank locomotives with a 2'C2 ' wheel arrangement.

During the First World War there was a shortage of locomotives at the SAR, which is why seven locomotives, which had actually been built by North British in 1915 for the Manila Railway in the Philippines , were instead delivered to South Africa.

The locomotives were used in the passenger train service between Springs and Randfontein in Transvaal (now Gauteng ), where they supplemented the class F locomotives . Unlike these, the K class locomotives were equipped with Walschaerts controls and superheaters .

The locomotives were retired in 1940; no copy has survived.
