The 24 diesel-electric shunting tractors for the depots and workshops that were procured between 1958 and 1966 were designated as Tm III at the Swiss Federal Railways ( SBB ). Index III stands for performance class III (between 200 and 350 hp). Seven identical vehicles were delivered to siding owners. Another vehicle was equipped with a gear drive and delivered to Maschinenfabrik Rüti ZH to operate its siding. Finally, a similar looking vehicle but with a hydrostatic drive went to von Roll as Tm 20 (SLM 4218/1956)

The construction tractors with the numbers 9451 ... 9597 ( see SBB Tm III (construction service) ), as well as the Tm 599 of the Brünigbahn , which was taken over by the Südwestdeutsche Eisenbahngesellschaft in 1981 , are also designated as Tm III .

The TSI numbers of the vehicles still in existence are Tm 98 85 5231 004 ... 024. The serial numbers of the Tm III, including the vehicles on sidings, are:
