SBUL (Paralympics)

SBUL is a starting class for athletes in Paralympic winter sports for athletes in para-snowboarding . The membership of athletes in the starting class is outlined as follows:

Snowboarders of the SBUL class have significant difficulties balancing the snowboard due to impairments in the upper extremities. One of the following minimum criteria must be met:

  • severe impairment in one or two arms, for example through unilateral or bilateral amputations in or above the wrist - or
  • complete loss of muscle strength and mobility in at least one arm - or
  • significant, combined impairment in one or two arms, for example spasticity in two arms.

The following applies:

  • in the case of combined impairments of arms and legs, the classification is made where the impairments are greater.
