The SC Preußen Werl was a sports club in Werl . The club colors were black and white, the heraldic animal an eagle . The club rose to the state league in 1952 , which was then the highest amateur class in Westphalia.

history

The sports club was founded in 1911 by around 50 young men . In 1912 the football club Prussia Werl was founded . A few weeks later the two clubs merged and called themselves SC Preußen Werl . With the beginning of the First World War , gaming operations were suspended. After that, games began on a square on the embankment, and a shack served as a changing room. The athletics department was founded in 1920. The sports field changed seven times by 1932. The square on Hammerstrasse was inaugurated as the Prussian arena in 1932. After the Second World War the occupying powers banned the name Preußen Werl and the club was renamed TuS Werl (gymnastics and sports club). The FC Schalke 04 has appeared in 1948 and won the game 10: 1. The second promotion to the regional league took place in 1957 and in 1960 the first team was relegated to the regional league. The 3rd promotion to the regional league was achieved in 1965, the fourth promotion in 1977. In 1991, the Prussians were relegated to the district league, before SC Prussia joined Werler TV in 1999 . The game took place in the sports park Preußenstadion in Werl.
