SEO contest

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An SEO Contest ( Search Engine Optimization Contest , search engine optimization contest) is a competition in which the participants try to be listed as high up as possible on a search engine with fictitious words .

The winner is the website that is in first place on Google or a specified search engine on a given date. Since search engine results now deliver geolocalized results, it is sometimes defined for which location (e.g. Cologne) the results count. An SEO contest is an opportunity to observe and try out strategies, which is rarely possible with the necessary freedom with productive systems.

criticism

It is often criticized that these competitions spam search engines . It should be noted, however, that the freely invented (previously non-existent) words on the one hand do not falsify any real search results, on the other hand the search engine operators themselves become aware of possible weak points in their search and evaluation processes through such competitions.
