The SG Lützel-Post Koblenz (also called EPG Baskets Koblenz due to a sponsorship agreement ) is a basketball team from Koblenz .

history

In August 2011, the basketball department of VfB Lützel split off and from then on formed the Lützel Baskets. In 2012, the clubs Lützel Baskets and Post-SV Koblenz agreed to work together, from then on they formed a game community in the men's area and also sent a joint team in the youth basketball league into the race. The stated goal was to build on the tradition of SC REI Koblenz, which played in the basketball league from 1969 to 1971 . From 1973 to 1976 ADB Koblenz was also represented in the top German league.

In 2013, the "Mission 15/20" was proclaimed, which included promotion to the 1st regional league with the men's team by 2015 at the latest and to the professional area by 2020 at the latest. The second aspect of the objective should be the promotion of young people. Thomas Klein, full-time managing partner of the Elsen Group, took on the position of sports director and marketing manager for the men's team, while Elsen also supported the gaming community as the main financier. In April 2014, the team was named Conlog Baskets Koblenz , but was still run as SG Lützel-Post Koblenz.

In the 2014/15 game year, the team became champions of the 2nd Regionalliga Southwest-North, rose to the 1st Regionalliga Southwest and completed the march through from the regional league. In the top German amateur class, Lützel was also in the top group. In the summer of 2016, Isaac Bonga 's greatest talent left the team for Bundesliga club Skyliners Frankfurt . At the beginning of October 2016, coach Marcel Kastor was replaced by Josip Bosnjak after the team lost two of their first three games at the start of the 2016/17 round.

At the beginning of November 2019, Bosnjak gave up the position of coach after the team had not designed the start of the 2019/20 season as expected and had four wins and three defeats from seven games. He was succeeded by the Greek Christos Diktapanidis. In June 2019 the name of the team was changed to EPG Baskets Koblenz .

In the 2019/20 season, Koblenz was in second place in the table with 17 wins and six defeats when the game year ended due to the spread of Covid-19 . The team applied for a place in the 2nd Bundesliga ProB and was awarded this at the beginning of July 2020. In previous years, despite a lack of athletic qualifications, the license documents for the ProB had been submitted several times, but each time no place was received in the third-highest division in Germany. The new coach after promotion was Danny Rodriguez, who had previously played in Koblenz and coached the second team.
