The SG Waidhofen / Ybbs is a football club from the Lower Austrian town of Waidhofen an der Ybbs .
The club was re-established in 2011 after the existing regional league club FC Waidhofen / Ybbs had stopped playing due to financial problems.
history
FC Waidhofen / Ybbs: 1973-2011
FC Waidhofen / Ybbs was formed in 1973 from a merger of the two Waidhofner clubs 1. Waidhofner Sportklub and Union Waidhofen . After the club was able to secure the Lower Austrian state championship for the first time in 1976 , he rose to the third highest level of performance, the Regionalliga Ost , in which he was able to hold up until the league was temporarily dissolved in the 1979/80 season.
After the reintroduction of the regional league in 1985, the Waidhofner succeeded in returning to the regional league for the 1993/94 season with their second win in the state championship in 1993 . Since then, the club has consistently participated in the regional league, achieving the best result until recently in 2003/04 with second place behind SC-ESV Parndorf 1919 .
In the 2009/10 season , the team had the greatest success in the club's history: champions of the Regionalliga Ost. For financial reasons, he decided not to apply for a license that would have allowed them to participate in the relegation games and a possible promotion to the First League . In the summer of 2011, the club decided, again for financial reasons, to voluntarily relegate from the regional league. The entire team then left the club, which meant that it was about to be dissolved.
SG Waidhofen / Ybbs: from 2011
SC Waidhofen was founded and immediately entered into a syndicate with FC Waidhofen. Under the name SG Waidhofen / Ybbs, the club entered the 2nd class in Ybbstal, the lowest division of the Lower Austrian Football Association. In the second year after the re-establishment, the SG Waidhofen celebrated the championship title here. In the 2016/17 season the club plays in 1st class West.
