Ana Cristina Vieira Carmo Pereira (born March 8, 1968 in Porto ; † October 30, 2009 ) was a Portuguese volleyball and beach volleyball player .

Career

Cristina Pereira played indoor volleyball for Leixões SC , Castêlo da Maia and Boavista Porto until 1995 and was Portuguese champion five times. In 1994 she made her beach volleyball debut and played internationally with Maria José Schuller on the FIVB World Tour and at European CEV tournaments from 1995 to 2001 . Pereira / Schuller were unrivaled nationally and won the championship six times. They took part in three world championships and three European championships. At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Pereira / Schuller were eliminated in the round of 16 against Brazilians Sandra Pires / Adriana Samuel .

Cristina Pereira died on October 30th, 2009 after suffering from cancer for a long time .
