The SK Hawks HC is a handball club from South Korea . The association is based in the city of Cheongju , which is in the province of Chungcheongbuk-do . Club history
At the end of 2015, the Korosa HC club left the league, so the league would have consisted of only four clubs. For this reason, the SK Group , which sponsored the handball league, founded its own franchise. The franchise was launched in 2016 under the name SK Hawks . The club's first coach was Oh Se-il .
In its first season, the club reached 2nd place in the HKL. In the championship semifinals that followed, they met Sangmu Phoenix HC , which they beat with 24:23 and thus made it into the championship final. In the final, however, they lost both games against Doosan HC with 29:26 and 32:24. In the subsequent HKL Cup, the club was able to fight for third place. In the following season, the club reached 3rd place and thus qualified again for the championship games. In the semifinals they met IDTC HC . The first leg ended with a 24:23 win, but the club lost the second leg clearly with 23:33. Thus, the club was eliminated for the first time in the semi-finals. In the cup, the club could also not orientate itself on the previous season performance. The club only reached 5th place in the cup.
For the 2018/19 season , a new coach was introduced with Hwangbo Seong-il. Under the new coach, the club was able to record improvements in the cup. The club reached 2nd place in the cup.
