history

SK Zell registered with the Tyrolean Football Association on May 13, 1966 and sent two teams, a combat team and a youth team, into the race for the championships in 1966/67. The chairman at the time and the section head had to master various initial difficulties: The sports club only had temporary changing rooms or a makeshift sports field near the current facility. It was only through the encouragement of Mayor Walter Amor in 1972 and the financial support of local sponsors that a football facility was created at the secondary school and the combat team celebrated the championship title in 2nd class East.

In 1974 the Zeller celebrated the championship title in the first class middle, in 1975 that of the regional league east, in 1978 the second place in the amateur league and in 1981/82 the third place in the amateur league. In the 1987/88 season, the Zillertaler experienced the greatest success in the club's history when they reached the Tyrolean Cup final. With this success they qualified for the qualifying round for the Austrian Football Cup 1988/89, made it into the first round and were eliminated 4-0 against FC Dornbirn in 1913.

At the end of the 1980s, the sports club was in the Landesliga Ost and became champions there in 1990 and rose to the Tyrolean League, in which it reached fourth place in 1997. In the next season the club finished last and was relegated to the Landesliga Ost. Five years later, in 2003, the Zillertal were penultimate and had to relegate one league lower to the regional league east. With a second place in the regional league east in 2005, the Zeller qualified for promotion to the regional league east. Again two years later, in 2007, they relegated to the regional league, in which they celebrated the championship title in the next season. The Park Stadium was opened in September 2016. A year later, in 2009, they had to relegate to the regional league east, 2012 to the regional league east and 2016 to the first class east. In 2019, the Zillertal rose to the district league.
