SO Cassis Carnoux

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stade Olympique Cassis Carnoux is a French football club from the neighboring towns of Cassis and Carnoux-en-Provence , about 20 km east of Marseilles .

The club only came into being in 2002 when the Stade Olympique de Cassis merged with the Association Sportive de Carnoux Football (founded in 1987). The club colors are blue and white. The domestic Stade Marcel-Cerdan only has 1,500 spectators and does not meet the requirements for the third division, the national , into which SOCC was promoted for the 2008/09 season. It is not yet known where the league team will move to.

The club is currently planning a merger with Étoile Sportive Club Naval La Ciotat under the name Étoile Cassis-Carnoux-La Ciotat and with the club colors blue-white-red-black - since summer 2010, however, only the youth teams of both clubs have been affected.

The club's president is Jean-Claude Fisher; the first team is currently being coached by Max Giudicelli . (As of March 2010)

League affiliation

The club has never had professional status, nor has it played first-class ( Division 1 , renamed Ligue 1 since 2002 ); for the 2008/09 season he was promoted to third-rate national for the first time , but relegated to the CFA two years later .
